The Virtue of Golf

No, I cannot give up on golf. I've spent too much money on golf to give up on golf. And besides, it is truly a wonderful pasttime. You get to enjoy the outdoors in a truly constructive manner (none of that walking or jogging nonsense). Engage all of your senses. If you're an intelligent golfer you can fantasize that you actually know what you are doing, and occasionally follow through on it. There's that pursuit of unattainable perfection, or the Zen Buddhist quest for calm and finding your center. The joy of success and victory and the agony of defeat and failure. Drinking beer in the course of a round is generally encouraged. It's all there.

I can't give up on golf.
