Insight
Finally finished A Season With Verona - Travels Around Italy In Search Of Illusion, National Character And... Goals! by Tim Parks (no relation). Bloody brilliant and resonant as I read it during our Sabres playoff run. Even though it was about provincial Italian football it easily encompassed Italian football, football itself, and sports period: why we love it, and more importantly how and why we as intelligent people can immerse and invest ourselves in pursuits that have no philosophical or religious value. I also loved the fact that Parks wrote like I do. It's a fun book that if you're not careful might teach you something. And probably give you a soccer itch.
