Ah Well

Alas that same old Middle Earth magic won't be recreated again after all. I proudly stand apart from the throng getting atwitter over the prospect of Guillermo del Toro directing 2 Hobbit movies with Peter Jackson "overseeing" it. Why? Come on now. 1) The serendipity just ain't gonna be there. 2) 2 movies is 1 too many. The Hobbit is short sweet- a gentle children's tale that serves to be a perfect prelude to the meatier Lord of the Rings, and 2 movies just doesn't seem right. 3) Fran and Phillipa ain't writing it. Sure all of the nuts who worked on the LOTR films will be back, and yes it's going to be nifty, but I don't know if this is going to work.

Ah well.
